What levers for HR to contribute to the objective of carbon emissions reduction ?

The European Union has set itself the ambition of being the first continent to achieve climate neutrality. The ambition is to fundamentally transform the economic system so that by 2050, member states will be carbon neutral, with an intermediate target of reducing EU greenhouse gas emissions by 55% below 1990 levels by 2030. Such a target will only be achievable if we all roll up our sleeves. And that includes HR managers and their departments.

What if the new ways of organizing work that are being put in place in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic represented an opportunity to contribute to this ambition? This was the gamble taken by the partners in the NWoW4Net-Zero project, funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ program. Three avenues have been explored, leading to the development of three toolkits and training paths for deployment in organizations. These toolboxes cover :

  • New ways of organizing and hybridizing work
  • Work-related mobility
  • Responsible use of digital technologies

The partners in the NWoW4Net-Zero project are organizing an international conference in Brussels, free of charge, to raise awareness of your role as (D)HR in contributing to the goal of reducing carbon emissions, and to discover a range of tools and advice in these three areas.
