REScoop conference "Fostering social acceptance of renewable energy projects"
After three years of intensive work with local communities, local and EU policy-makers, and researchers, the REScoop 20-20-20 project will end at the end of this month. A closing seminar focusing on policy recommendations will take place in Brussels on Thursday, March 26th from 09:15 to 13:00.
The basic principle behind REScoop 20-20-20 was a simple one: to enable direct and sustained interaction between citizens leading successful initiatives and citizens interested in creating new REScoops in dialogue with policy-makers and researchers. The goal was to help avoid many of the problems that delay or even derail REScoop projects while increasing awareness about what has been achieved in other neighbouring countries and what is at risk if citizens decide not to act now.
The enormous awareness-raising and networking effort carried out by members of the REScoop 20-20-20 consortium has yielded very positive results and the change of mentality needed to implement an energy transition is now under way although a lot remains to be done and will be continued by the European federation of REScoops.
