Sustainable Europe by 2030

On February 12th, the EESC will organize a public debate concerning the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the european framework by 2030.

The meeting follows the Reflection Paper "Towards Sustainable Europe by 2030" published on January 30th, 2019. The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) fully recognizes the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a global framework to implement european policies improving the well-being of citizens.

Luca Jahier, President of the EESC emphasised on the importance of the European Commission reflection paper in a statement "The EC reflection paper on sustainable Europe is a window of opportunity that the EESC is determined to seize". The meeting will be an opportunity to discuss about next steps to achieve the SDGs in the European Union within the eleven years that are left. Civil society constituencies will be invited to review national strategies in sustainable development.
